New Poll: Behaviors

By Rex Goode

A new poll has been added to the LDSR blog. This poll is intended for those who struggle or have struggled with sex-related behaviors that have impacted their standing in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or give rise to feelings of unworthiness.

Before you take the poll, please note the following definitions. We acknowledge that these definitions are very subjective and do not necessarily reflect the definitions of the Church as it relates to standards of sexual purity. Any time you want to take a poll, you have to somehow “digitize” the answers. These definitions are our attempt to do that.

Fantasy: Preoccupation with sexual fantasies that are not focused on one’s spouse. Occasional, momentary thoughts don’t count. Everyone has those.

Masturbation: Manipulating one’s own genitals to the point of orgasm. Though “masturbation” technically means any self-stimulation, only check this one if you have an ongoing pattern of masturbating to orgasm.

Pornography Abuse: Any pattern of  intentional viewing of pornographic material.

Heavy Petting: Contact between persons not married to each other that involves one person-s non-genital body parts with another person’s genitals.

Fornication: Any genital-to-genital contact between unmarried people.

Adultery: Any genital-to-genital contact between a married person and another person who is not his or her spouse.

Emotional Infidelity: Intimate or romantic behavior with a between a married person and another person who is not his or her spouse.

Other: Any behavior that would generally be considered contrary to the teachings of the Church regarding sexual behavior that isn’t covered in the above definitions.

None: Check this one only if you have at some time been involved in any of the above behaviors but have now been abstinent for at least three months. If you have never done any of these things, this poll is not intended for you.

If you check “other”, it is acceptable to identify the behavior. Please remember that descriptions that are intended to arouse others are not allowed. Such comments will not be approved or will be deleted.

(Please note that Emotional Infidelity was added after the initial poll was posted.)

Also, feel free to discuss these definitions here as comments to this blog. Points of view contrary to the teachings of the Church are not welcome here.

To take the poll, look to the left and scroll down to the polls section.
