If you are a therapist or other professional helper, we are willing to list you free of charge as a service to our users. Please feel free to submit a request to be listed.

Obtaining counseling is one of the best ways to overcome this addiction/compulsion. This is not just a "phase" or excess hormones, or anything else that you or others might downplay. This is a very strong habit, addiction, compulsion (call it what you will) that needs some professional understanding and work to overcome.

You should only obtain the services of a qualified, licensed therapist. There are some "do-gooders" with no real qualifications that have actually caused more problems than they have solved. If the counselor you visit does not know who Patrick Carnes is, find another counselor!

To this end, LDSR is working to post a listing of LDS therapists or LDS-friendly therapists who meet the highest standards of professionalism and excellence. We will try to list those who are trained in addictions, and have experience in sexual addiction. They can be contacted directly to set up an appointment if you wish. You do not need to talk to your Bishop in order to see them. We will list as many as we find out about.

LDS Social Services has services available in many areas where there is a reasonably large LDS population. Some have training with sexual addiction. You will need to have your Bishop refer you to them if you wish to work with them. The church may also help with the cost of counseling through LDS Social Services if you cannot afford it.
